| | My first job was at a hometown pizzeria called Rod's Pizzeria. Of course, Rod was the owner of the place and was absolutely horrible at it. He should never have gotten into the food business as he has no tolerance for slip-ups. No compassion even. It's ridiculous. Rod's is about five blocks away from my house, within walking distance, and is located on Main Street right across from Fagen's Pharmacy. I'm not there now because last Christmas(2006) I was fired. Why, you might ask. The reason that Rod gave me was because I was too immature for the job. Let it be known that I was 15 at the time. Besides that, my co-workers argued with that, not to Rod of course, but amongst ourselves and they were all in full agreement that I was probably the most mature of the bunch working there. Insanity. I mean, yes, I know I had a few meltdowns while working there, like the pen incident, but that doesn't account for being fired. Especially since nobody saw the incident!!!! I was literally the only one working at that time. Annoying! So after I was fired, Rod said something and I happened to catch it. He said something like, "Yeah, and there's going to be LOTS of changes around here soon. Very soon." I asked him about this and he just said that there would be new faces around there pretty soon. I just kept what I thought to myself, thanked him for the opportunity at a job even though it didn't work out and left. He told me that I should consider going back when I was 16. Like the number of years I've been on this earth would really affect my maturity level. I walked outside and Kenzie(neighbor and friend)was there to pick me up with her boyfriend. I told them what had happened, warned Kenzie about the warning that Rod had giving me whether he had intended to do so or not, and she and Chris(her boyfriend)went on to discount everything about why Rod had fired me. They were both utterly confused about why he would think I was immature. I told them about the pen incident and they both said that if I was the only one working right then it shouldn't matter. The next day, Kayla(my cousin and co-worker)was fired. No reason. They just fired her. Another day and Brooke(co-worker)was also fired. Before they could fire Kenzie, she quit. Rod now had only 1 worker, not including himself. He ended up hiring a bunch of gals that didn't really need a job. Their daddy's could buy anything for them and they usually did. This is where my first job was and why I'm no longer there. [Kim] |
